TOPIC: Affliction (Child Story About Curved Spine)
TITLE: God Takes The Blame
I don't speak to you today of affliction carelessly or callously. You see, I was born with Tuberculosis of the spine. As a child God healed me of that disease but it's scar remained. It left a severely curved spine.
For this reason I had to wear a stiff hard metal back brace for a year while I was in Junior High. This is during the years of your life when you are feeling all of the insecurities. You are suddenly turning into a teenager. You are unsure about your role in life. you want to be accepted, you want
to look neat, but I was confined to a back brace.
I remember the humiliation of having to take off my shirt in the locker room to dress out for P. E.
There was no way to hide the fact that under my shirt was a heavy, hard, embarrassing back brace. There was no way to stuff it quickly into the locker. It wouldn't even fit. I had to go public with it.
Who was I to blame for this? Who was I to shake my fist at for my humiliation, my embarrassment?
You know, the awesome thing to me is, that the Lord, in His Word takes total blame for all affliction.
